Our Guard of Honour on Saturday are Ducklington Blues Under 8s, who will be welcoming Oxford United and Forest Green Rovers on to the pitch at the Kassam Stadium.
Managed by Graham Eadle, coached by James Fleming and supported by their parents, the Blues are a village team of local boys and girls with a nucleus from Ducklington Primary School and the surrounding area.
The team forms part of a very active Ducklington Sports Club established in 1898. The team has been playing together for 18 months and in this time they have developed a great team spirit based on friendship, camaraderie, and discipline. They have gone from strength to strength, playing naturally as a team - they really are the sum of the parts.
Ducklington Blues previously played within the Witney & District A League and went through the season with an unbeaten record. This season, the team moved across to the Oxfordshire youth football league Under 8s A League and are looking forward to the new and different challenges this will bring.
Graham Eadle said “ We try and play a brand of football with personality and style based on the game of futsal, which has won us many plaudits along the way. The group are one big personality and they make me laugh every week, and make me feel very privileged to be a part of their lives even if it’s just a small part”
