Oxford United are delighted to say that we have managed to reach an agreement with Thames Travel to continue running of all three Football Special buses to all league matches next season.
As before, cup matches will be decided on a game-by-game basis depending on opponents, date, kick-off time and anticipated attendance.
The 2021/22 season was a challenging one as supporters returned to matches in numbers following the relaxation of lockdown rules and began the process of learning to live with covid. After the initial expected hesitancy passenger numbers picked up during the season, returning to pre-pandemic levels after Christmas.
The club are grateful to the volunteers that help on these buses collecting donations from concessionary pass holders.
With higher fuel costs and large attendances, the buses provide a simple and cheap way to get to and from home games along three routes in the county.
The OX2 starts at Didcot and picks up in Steventon, Drayton and Abingdon. The OX3 starts at Carterton and then picks up at Brize Norton, Witney, Eynsham and Botley, while the OX7 picks up at various stops in Kidlington as well as along the Banbury Road, Marston and Headington.
We will have full details of fares and timetables ahead of the new season.
