Karl Robinson Previews Burton at Home

Oxford United look to bounce back against Burton on Saturday.

The U’s saw their three-game winning streak end at Portsmouth on Tuesday night and Boss Karl Robinson has to ensure that one loss doesn’t derail what has been an excellent run of form.

“I hate losing any game but we have all been here before and the emotion at this time of the season could become a negative just at the wrong moment” he told iFollow. “It’s fine to enjoy the wins and be hurt when you lose and we appreciate the emotions involved for the fans because they love their football club.

“But at the same time we have our plans and we are on target with the points we have at the moment. Other teams are winning games but we can’t do anything about that unless we are playing them ourselves. We may lose games but the players never let me down and as a Manager that’s a very good place to be.

“The top two may be out of reach now, possibly. Rotherham were in the Championship last season and kept that team together and Wigan have been very aggressive in the Transfer Window. But there are a lot of teams chasing, maybe down to tenth or so.

“But it’s not about anyone else. We don’t fear any teams in or around us. I have tremendous respect for all of the clubs we are competing with but we worry about ourselves, not what others are doing.

“I won’t be easy on Saturday. Jimmy is a top man, a really good guy and a good coach. He has worked wonders and proved so many people wrong. He had previous success there and it’s a good fit between him and the club, clearly.

“I always look forward to seeing him and his team is a good one with a lot of heart so we know they will come and they will make it very very difficult for us on Saturday.”
