Under 19s Beat Villa

Oxford United’s Under 19s enjoyed a memorable Saturday morning as they beat Aston Villa’s youth team 6-3 at the Bangkok Glass Training Centre.

Gatlin O’Donkor and Josh Johnson both scored twice while Enrique Tiamuna and Aidan Elliott-Wheeler also found the target.

United were ahead through a Johnson goal after just 12 minutes but were pegged back by the visitors a minutes later. However goals from O’Donkor, Johnson’s second and an Elliott-Wheeler strike made it 4-1 at the break in a very entertaining game.

Tiamuna made it 5-1 after 50 minutes, Villa made it 5-2 before O’Donkor’s second goal after 60 minutes made it 6-2. A late Villa third goal couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of Coach Chris Hackett who told us

“We looked very sharp. We knew it would be a difficult game against Villa but everyone did well and we are starting to get a real shape and cohesion as we head for the new season. We go to Italy for a pre-season trip on Friday and that will strengthen the bonds of the group and be really important for us."
