Oxford United are pleased to welcome back a familiar face with Eddie Odhiambo returning to the Academy as Head of Player Care.
Eddie, who was part of the Academy himself before joining Southampton, made 76 appearances for the club between 2006 and 2008 and and returns to help the next generation of players
“I’ll be working across the age groups and with players across the Academy to hopefully prepare them for becoming professional footballers, but also to make sure they are OK and to prepare them for adult life, whether they are footballers or not" he said.
“It’s not something that used to exist: it was part of a coach’s duties I guess, but I think it’s brilliant for clubs to be dedicating a role to it.”
Eddie will combine the role with his duties as Manager of North Leigh, who he helped to promotion last season.
“I’ll still be doing that” he confirmed. “I really enjoy that, working with another former Oxford player Michael Alexis and it’s great to be able to keep doing that as well as this new role, which I’m really looking forward to.
"It has been nice to be back at the club- there are still a lot of familiar faces and I have been made to feel very welcome. Now I can’t wait to get started.”
