Oxford United Women will look to make it to the Third Round of the Vitality Women's FA Cup this Sunday, the 4th of December. Kick off is at 1PM at Liskeard’s Lux Park.
This game had been rescheduled after a waterlogged pitch caused the game to be postponed last weekend.
Liskeard Athletic play in the South West Regional Premier Division, which is Tier 5 of the Women’s football pyramid. They currently sit sixth in the division and are the only remaining Cornish side in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
Manager Liam Gilbert knows that despite the gap in League position, his side cannot take this fixture lightly.
“We know a fair bit as we’ve been able to see a few games and follow our normal process so we’re not taking any liberties and treating this game as any other. If you look back to what happened last year to us in the FA Cup, we were a little bit complacent.”
“We’ve had a lot of time to prepare and the squad haven’t played a full 90 in over two weeks so we know we’ll have to work hard to be sharp and fit for Sunday,” added Gilbert.
Midfielder Naomi Cole told us
“It’s tough not having a run of games when we’ve been back-to-back for a long time, but it’s also nice to have a reset and we’ve been working a lot on our fitness.”
“They’re going to be up for the game and the underdog are always going to want to prove themselves against higher opposition. We know we’re going to be up against it at their place in front of a potentially big crowd so we have to go there and get the job done to get into the next round.”
If the U’s manage to get past Liskeard, they’ll host Plymouth Argyle Women at Court Place Farm next weekend in the Third Round.
