Midfielder Josh Johnson made the most of his chance with a very assured performance in midfield against Premier League Crystal Palace last night.
The 17-year-old, who captains United’s youth team, stepped up against a team full of internationals and told iFollow.
“I really enjoyed it. It’s the first time I have played in front of a big crowd like that, most of my games have been in the Trophy, but I wasn’t nervous about it before the game. I was just looking forward to it.
“I thought we played well as a team. We knew they would have a lot of the ball but we worked really hard, we got on the ball when we could and we made chances so I thought we did well.
“Obviously the speed of the players and the way Palace did things was much faster than I am used to but I made a couple of early challenges and passes and that got me into the game. The senior players were great with me and now all I can do is keep working hard and try to get more chances with the First Team.”
