Oxford United Women were beaten 1-0 at Bridgwater United Women on Sunday to see them lose ground on the top two in the Women’s National League South.
The only goal of the game came on 35 minutes when Wilson-White got the ball to Jenna Markham who made no mistake.
United applied plenty of pressure but could find no way through against a resilient Bridgwater defence, leaving boss Liam Gilbert all too aware that his side now need a win when they travel to Hounslow on Wednesday evening.
“It was a really frustrating afternoon” he told us. “It was a difficult surface but that's no excuse; we had plenty of possession and just didn’t make the most of that. We made chances and the effort was there from everyone but credit to Bridgwater who defended really well and are a good side.
“Now it’s up to us to bounce back. We will go to Hounslow and have a real go and then we will play the top two, Southampton and Ipswich, away and that will be a massive challenge for us and a chance to show what a good side we are.“
