Oxford United’s season will go to the final game after a dramatic win at Shrewsbury left them still in the chase for the play-offs.
“It was an unbelievable effort” Karl Robinson told iFollow “It’s a shame the fans and players can't connect through social media. It was the right thing to do this weekend but social media was set up for interaction, hope and enjoyment, not for hate and discrimination. For the fans to firstly not be here, and then to also not be able to connect in that way is just as hard. But everyone at home should enjoy the result, enjoy their weekend and will will reconnect fully with them on Tuesday.
“When Michael Appleton left it was the first time the club had got in the top ten in this league for something like 26 years. Now to be in the mix for the play-offs for a second season in a row far outweighs where we should be.
“We are in there with the Sunderlands and Charltons of this world. We are not back at the level of the great sides this club has had but we are at a level we should be very proud of.
“To be seventh and to have a chance of the play-offs again is incredible. There are games in midweek so let’s just see. But we are in it, we will have a great week and will be ready for Sunday. We will get behind the players and be proud because 71 points is a fantastic return after what happened last summer.
“The players now need that little extra push so everyone get behind them and they will give it everything they possibly can on Sunday.”
