Oxford United come up against the league leaders tomorrow night when they welcome Peterborough United to the Kassam Stadium (7pm)
A draw at MK on Saturday keeps the U’s chasing the play-off places but boss Karl Robinson is very aware that the Posh represent a very difficult challenge for his side:
“We are all working extremely hard and every game is tough” he told iFollow. “I think the last three games we have played Ipswich who have then gone and beaten Hull and Doncaster, Portsmouth where we lost to a really good goal, then we faced one of the most in form teams in the league on Saturday and I would argue that we were the better side. The highlight reel proves that.
“Now we come up against the most in-form team in the league so it is relentless, but it is brilliant. We love the challenge and can’t wait for Tuesday now.”
Sam Winnall is ruled out after picking up an injury at Stadium MK and there were one or two more aches and bruises when United trained today.
“Sam rolled his ankle but it may not be as serious as we first thought” Karl said. “The swelling has gone done a lot today but we’ll let that go down some more and wait until Thursday to scan it and see the full extent of the damage. There are one or two others that we will keep up our sleeve for now but we will just have to wait and see.
“It was a hard game but we were very good on Saturday. MK are a good team and they pressed us well but we had the better chances and we also should have had two very clear penalties. But we will have to be even better to compete with Peterborough because they are a real threat.
“I know Darren really well and he has his team in a good place so we are going to have to play well and we are going to have to compete with them all over the pitch. But that’s fine, we always compete and it’s a game we are looking forward to.”
