Oxford United are pleased to announce that Andrew Taylor has become the new Supporter Liaison Officer at the club.
Andy will combine the new role with his current one as head of Matchday Operations and explained to us how he sees the role developing:
“First of all I am so proud to be taking up the role” he said. “I have been a fan since the early 80s, played for the Academy as a youngster and have been going to games all my life so working with the fans will be a fantastic opportunity for me. The SLO role involves liaising with supporters through the week and on matchdays and making sure that everyone can have their say and is represented at the club. It is all about maintaining and improving our communication and being open and honest with fans as well as helping in the wider community.
“Kath Faulkner has done an amazing job and I’ll be relying on her for help and support because she is still going to be around the club and I know there are lots of staff and fans who I am going to be calling on to help build an even stronger link between the club and the fans. One idea is a Fan Council with all areas of the club represented- I’ve been talking with Andy Willmer and a new Military supporters group is starting to take shape. Hopefully there will be other ways we can all work together.
“It’s not going to be easy- if people have complaints then I’ll be the first person they contact but it’s a massive role and I’ll also be working with the SLOs at other clubs when fans are allowed back, helping to make away days run smoothly for both clubs.
“I am really looking forward to it and can't wait to get started.”
