Oxford United will kick off the 2021/22 season with a trip to newly-promoted Cambridge United.
The Sky Bet League 1 fixtures give the U’s a trip to the Abbey Stadium on the opening day, August 7th, ahead of the first game of the Carabao Cup - the draw for which will be made this afternoon.
Karl Robinson’s side then have back-to-back home games against Charlton Athletic and Crewe Alexandra before their second away league game is again at a newly promoted side, Bolton Wanderers.
Boxing Day sees the U’s travel to Portsmouth with home games against AFC Wimbledon and Cheltenham Town also scheduled for the festive period.
United also end the season with a home game against Doncaster Rovers.

Papa John’s Trophy
The draw for the Papa John’s Trophy group stages will take place on Sky Sports at 4:30pm today. United are in Group H along with Cambridge United and Stevenage and will be joined by an under 21 side from either Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur or West Ham United
All fixtures are subject to change
The draft fixture list has been formatted to enable Derby County and Wycombe Wanderers’ divisional places to be interchangeable, ahead of the start of the season and this will also apply to the group stage draw of the Papa John’s Trophy. This is because there remains a possibility that as part of any appeal, the League Arbitration Panel could impose a sporting sanction to take effect in 2020/21 that would potentially impact the final league placings. Derby County disputes that this is a possibility under the EFL Regulations. The adoption of such an approach is necessary to enable the independent judicial process to run in full, without delaying the fixture publication.
