Oxford United Women will look to build on a strong start to their Women’s National League campaign on Sunday when they travel to Chichester.
United got off to a winning start last week with a 2-0 win against Gillingham thanks to goals from Sarah King and Riva Casley.
TEAM NEWS
It’s the start of a big week for United, with three league games in a week for Liam Gilbert’s side.
Looking ahead to the clash with Chichester the United boss said: “We have only been together as a group for six weeks; a few players have been away with different things going on.”
“We have got to make sure we get to work this week and we start to build and push ourselves forward into three games in seven days.”
The quick turnaround between the upcoming games will be a test but defender and goal scorer last weekend Riva Casley thinks that the strength of the squad means they are up to the challenge.
Casley said: “We have got relationships building all over the pitch.
“It’s not just the players that start it’s also the players that come on and make a difference.”
LAST TIME OUT
United and Sunday’s opponents Chichester had differing fortunes on the opening day in the National League. While the U’s saw off Gillingham 2-0, Chichester suffered a 4-0 defeat away at Bridgwater United.
The last time United faced Chichester was back in September 2019 when 2 goals from Daisy McLachlan helped the U’s to a 4-0 win.
