Saturday was a day of milestones for James Henry as his hat-trick helped the U’s beat Lincoln City 3-1 at the Kassam Stadium
“I was looking at the top goalscorers on a board on the wall at the Training Ground in the week and I think I am closing in on the top five league scorers now so that’s the next landmark to aim for” he told us. “It was my first hat-trick since one for Millwall 11 years ago, my fiftieth goal for Oxford and also my hundredth career goal- hence the cricket celebration with Matty Taylor bowling at me to get my century!
“I thought we were brilliant for 75 minutes but a little disappointed not to get a clean sheet, and that has to be our next target as a team. But at times were unplayable on Saturday, especially in the first half. With the way we moved the ball it was a pleasure to play in.
“It is a long season and still very early but we have started a lot better than the last few years and it has given us something to build on.
“It was a really enjoyable day. There was a positive atmosphere and having fans back makes such a difference. It is so much better having them here. Ultimately we are entertainers and it’s great to get them off their seats and cheering.”
