The Oxford United Fans Council is starting to take shape but there is still time for fans to get involved and make sure that supporters are heard from across the fanbase.
The Fans Council will be a flexible group that meets with staff and board members on a regular basis. Working alongside Supporters Trust Oxvox, the Council will be made up of every section of the fanbase.
Andy Taylor, the club’s new Supporter Liaison Officer has been working hard on the project and told us
“The response has been really encouraging and a number of fans have been in touch from all areas of the Yellow Army. Andy Wilmer, for example, has really run with the idea of representing the Armed Forces and got James Constable involved as a patron of that group. But it doesn’t need to be that structured: if fans want to come forward and just speak to us about ideas they have for improving matchdays, and how things might look when we return to having fans at games then that would be great.
“The Football Supporters Association (FSA) have been so supportive of the idea. They have helped other clubs set up similar groups and I have leaned on their experience a lot over the last couple of weeks. They will be present at the first meeting of the new group which we hope will take place in May and help guide us for the new season.
“One new thing, just to get us started, will be an OUFC SLO twitter page so fans can get in touch directly on that platform, but there are lots of other ideas in the pipeline and I’d like to thank everyone who has been in touch already and offered help, encouragement or offered to be part of things".
