Oxford United boss Karl Robinson stands by to face the club where he made his name as a Manager when his team welcome MK Dons to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night (7pm)
“Obviously everyone knows my affection for MK Dons but that doesn’t have any influence on the game whatsoever” he told iFollow. “I had ten years there and still have a lot of friends at the club and I’m pleased that they have a good Manager who plays football the right way and who we know will get the most out of his players so we know that once again it is going to be a difficult game for us.
“But we feel we have been playing well enough without getting the right results. They had a win and went above us but I’m not one to panic or start changing the way we do things. There are plenty of stats out there to back up our feeling that we are on the right lines so let’s keep believing in what we are doing and we know that things will turn our way soon enough.”
United welcome defender Rob Atkinson back into the squad after injury but are without Cameron Brannagan who is recovering from an eye infection:
“Rob Atkinson is fit again so that really only leaves Cameron. We just want to ask people to respect his privacy a little bit. It’s an eye infection and he is a lot better today than he was last week but nobody knows how long things like that take to clear up so we don’t want to start putting deadlines on that or anything silly. He’ll be back whenever he’s ready.
“We do have Olamide Shodipo available though. He trained with us today and looked sharp. He gives us that extra little bit of pace out wide and he will hopefully be OK to be involved.
“Joel Cooper came back from Northern Ireland duty yesterday and has been tested but won’t be involved on Tuesday- we’ve an under 21 game in the afternoon and we may use that for him because he’s not had much game time recently. And John Mousinho trained with the group today and we all know what we get with him: he talks, he organises and it was good to have him back.
“So we are in relatively good shape and it’s a game we are looking forward to.”
