Oxford United travel to Walsall on Tuesday night looking to progress in the Papa John’s Trophy
Boss Karl Robinson will make changes to his side, but as he told iFollow earlier today, there may not be quite as many changes as he had first planned:
“We were going to field a slightly different side but with our game being called off on Saturday against Doncaster we have had to have a rethink because after the FA Cup that would leave some of the players not having played a game for 14 days” he said.
“Some need minutes, some don’t but we have changed our plans slightly because of it.
“It will still be a young squad in many ways but that’s what the competition is for in a lot of ways and we definitely want to get through if we can.
“It’s also a chance for Jordan Obita to be involved for the first time and maybe Sam Winnall to get some match time. They are both excellent pros and if we do also field a few youngsters that will come into our thoughts to help them settle in.
“We will look at everything and send out a team we think is strong enough to get us through. It’s one of those games where you don[t know quite what you are going to get, and that’s quite exciting to prepare for.”
