Tomorrow is the big non kick off as Oxford United don't play South Bend Lions
South Bend Lions, from Indiana, USA, are a USL League Two franchise who were due to play their very first game on Saturday, May 9th
Understandably that won't now be happening. However, the Lions want to do something to mark the date and, most importantly, raise some money to help relief projects and so they have been contacting clubs all around the World to ask if we would mind not playing them on that day!
The U’s are therefore happy to accept the invitation NOT to play the Lions and won’t be sending a squad to the US to help them on their big day, one of 20 clubs not playing them tomorrow!
The game won't be officiated by former American defender Lalas, best known for playing for the United States in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Lalas went on to become the first American in Italy's Serie A and currently works as an analyst for Fox Sports.
Although the game won't take place there is a serious side to it as well.
$1 tickets are available online for supporters to buy, with the proceeds going to benefit COVID-19 relief projects in Indiana.
A unique souvenir for ticket collectors and a great way of raising funds we wish South Bend Lions the best of luck tomorrow.
Tickets, non-refundable when the game isn’t played, are available HERE with proceeds going to COVID-19 Relief projects.
