RIP Ray Colfar

Everyone at Oxford United was saddened to learn of the death recently of Ray Colfar, at the age of 85.

Born in Liverpool, Ray was a dimunitive winger who featured for United in their first game in the Football League at Barrow on 18th August 1962 after joining from Cambridge United.

Fast and direct, Ray (on the left of the front row in the team picture from 1962/3) made 20 appearances in total for the U’s, scoring four goals before leaving for Guildford City after the start of the following season.

Ray also joined Wimbledon in 1968, scoring 10 goals in 60 appearances. He had also played for Sutton United and Crystal Palace before his move to Cambridge.
