Oxford United welcome 2,000 friends back tomorrow night when they take on Northampton Town at the Kassam Stadium.
Two games with 1,000 fans in attendance have gone well and now the number rises as Karl Robinson's side continue a tough run of fixtures in front of 2,000 season ticket holders:
"I sometimes like the routine of playing Saturday, Tuesday" he told iFollow today. "We have been doing that for a while now and it's hard but I can't moan about it, we have been through a lot worse this year! So we’re not going to be moaning about playing too much football, especially when there are going to be 2,000 people back with us tomorrow night to get behind us.
"This is the most excited I have been for a game for ages and we can’t wait to see all those familiar faces again. The thousand fans there at the last two games have been amazing and have really tried to make a noise and get behind us. That’s what being a supporter is all about; being there to see your team through good or bad but always showing your love. We will try and show our appreciation for that in the right way as well.
"The last two games have been amazing. I wasn’t too sure about the integration with just 1,000. There are always lulls, even with capacity crowds, where the noise levels drop, but I think the 1,000 sensed that and were determined to try and make a difference. That was really good.
"It was weird being back in an empty stadium at Blackpool on Saturday but now we know we are facing a very well coached and very organised Northampton side. They are a very experienced side who know how to win and our players know that they are going to have to be at the levels they have been four four or five weeks now where we have taken points off some big teams.
"Now we have to start putting more wins on the board to make our decent run become even better.”
