We were delighted to welcome back three Oxford United legends this morning.
Peter Rhoades- Brown, James Constable and Joey Beauchamp were the first stars of the past to come along and see us at the new training ground, talk to the current players and join training as well as helping the coaching staff put on a session ahead of the weekend’s game at Coventry.
Karl Robinson told us:
“It was great to see them. This club is blessed with a fantastic history and it is important that the players here, when they see those players in the big pictures in the corridors on matchday, know who they are and what they achieved for Oxford United
“I have met James and Joey a few times now and Rosie is obviously still involved. They have this club in their hearts and today was the first of what we hope will be a regular thing of inviting past players in like this.”
Joey Beauchamp told us
“It was a brilliant morning. We would have loved to have the training facilities here in my day and the speed and intensity of the session was much higher than we used to do!
"Karl and the players made us feel so at home and showed us a lot of respect which was really nice, and I think all three of us really enjpyed being back out there on the training ground and involved once again.”
