Oxford United head for Fleetwood on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways in the league.
FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy games at Brentford and Cheltenham have taken precedence over the last seven days but United now need to get their league season back on track, as Head Coach Karl Robinson told iFollow earlier today:
“I said to the players that we would use the last two games to build. There were things we over-compensated on against Brentford and maybe under compensated at Cheltenham. The two games were a bit disconnected but we got what we wanted out of them and it’s important we concentrate on the league now on Saturday.”
Hosts Fleetwood have had a good season so far under Joey Barton, someone Karl thinks has the makings of a very successful Manager.
“He has done really well which isn’t a surprise to me” he said. ”What people maybe don’t realise is how dedicated he is, and that’s half the battle. The more the dedicated you are, the more you learn and look in to things, the more you take from it. He wants to learn all the time; so it wasn’t a surprise that he has done well.”
United meanwhile could have the boost of midfielder Samir Carruthers being available again after an injury hit first half of the season
“Samir is doing well and hopefully will travel and be in the group with us. He maybe needs a game under his belt first but it’s good to have him training and around the squad. Jordan Graham has come in, Mark Sykes is available now so we are starting to get people back and increase that competition.”
