Oxford United look to build on an encouraging run of home results as they welcome another promotion seeking side on Saturday.
Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough are just outside the play-off places right now, but U’s‘ boss Karl Robinson is keen for his team to carry on as they have been doing with a five game unbeaten run including a win over Portsmouth and draws against Barnsley and Sunderland.
“I thought we were terrific against Sunderland but that’s gone” he told iFollow earlier today.
“You can maybe use it to motivate the players but it doesn’t get you any more points the following week! We have to work hard in training this week and tick the same boxes physically, tactically and mentally against Peterborough now.
“They are a very good team, managed by a very good Manager and we know they will be ultra-motivated to get a result to push themselves back into the play-offs.
“Their recent run means they are like a wounded animal and that means it’s a difficult time to face them. Their results maybe haven’t been good but the performances have; we know what that’s like ourselves but we also know what we have to do on Saturday.
“The fans got behind us last week and although there will be fewer at the game they will be the ones who are there every week driving us forward; hopefully a few that came last week will come back again after our performance as well.
“It doesn’t matter how many are there; we know we have to perform from first minute to last and if we do that then they will be right behind us again.”
