A Performance For Fans To Be Proud Of

Head Coach Karl Robinson hopes that Oxford fans were just as proud of their team’s performance as he was last night as the U’s bowed out of the Carabao Cup despite a fantastic performance against Manchester City.

“I hope every fan, whatever age, can go to work or school in the morning and proudly say ‘I am an Oxford fan did you see how we played last night?” he told iFollow.

“I am frustrated by the result and never in a month of Sundays did I think I would come out and say that after the game. I thought we took them on at a game they are the best at. We were brave and we didn’t sit off them and were especially brave for a team so young. So I’m really pleased with them but I know when I close my eyes tonight my last thought will be ‘what might have been’

“We were lust lacking some good finishing but what do you expect against the best players in the World? I don’t think we quite believed that chances were going to drop to us but at the other end if one of your players just drops off something then they hurt you. They scored two goals on the break away really

“But thank you to the fans who came out in their thousands and we now move on to a big game here at the weekend against Wycombe.

"That’s a big game and we want as many people here as we can. The players will recover and be ready and hearing the fans roar them on would be a massive help at the weekend.”
