Karl Robinson was typically honest in his assessment as his United side lost 4-2 at home to Burton last night.
“We got back on level terms and then in front and then it’s my fault we lost the game” he told iFollow.
“I’ve done this long enough now to know that I made two substitutions too quickly. That might look attacking and look exciting but you can become suspect defensively and that was the case. When the players play the way we know they can then we are good but when we come off our game we are just like everybody else. We have to realise that you have to be on your game all the time
“It was a poor performance. We take the plaudits when we win but we have to accept the responsibility when we lose as well and the players have to understand that there is a level that we expect and tonight at times we lost our way and lost our shape a little bit.
“It’s the first time we have been a little bit off our game this season. I take responsibility for that. Today we were disjointed and over eager sometimes but it’s a learning curve and there’s still a long way to go.”
