Oxford United players got a taste of Thailand yesterday when they visited Thaikhun restaurant in George Street.
Club sponsors Singha are Thailand’s biggest beer company and this weekend sees the Thai New Year and the start of the Songkhran festival. To mark the occasion Fabio Lopes, Malachi Napa, Jonte Smith and Shandon Baptiste were invited to the city centre to meet with Singha and sample some delicious Thai dishes courtesy of Oxford’s Thaikhun restaurant.
The four players then took part in a Masterchef style cook off, preparing a fragrant chicken, ginger and lime soup for starters and then a stir fry main course. Shandon told us
“It was a great experience and nice to meet with the guys from Singha and Thaikhun. Obviously we were always going to get competitive and the cooking was good fun, although how Malachi could get the same score as me and Jonte when he threw half his main course on the floor is a mystery!
“We all said at the end that we will definitely go back for a meal, although we’l leave it to the professional chefs next time.”
Thaikhun is at 36 George Street and currently offering a chance to celebrate the New Year with a trip to Thailand. Find out more HERE
What’s more Singha and Thaikhun have teamed up with a great offer for Oxford United fans.
To celebrate Songkran, from now until 7th May fans can enjoy a FREE Singha beer with every main course purchased when showing a valid over 18 season ticket card or match ticket.
