Oxford United may have reached 52 points but the message from Head Coach Karl Robinson is clear. “We won’t be easing up” he told iFollow earlier today.
“Whether it’s a friendly or a league match we have a duty of care every time we put that yellow shirt on, whatever it’s for. There is a level of detail to our build up for every game and we will be giving it our all like we always do.”
United fight a Wimbledon side fighting for their lives in League 1 and Karl knows it will be a difficult game for his side as they look to make it five wins in a row.
“We are up against an honest hard working team with some very talented players and the Manager has done an unbelievable job there. They are bringing over 1,000 fans and it will be a good game I’m sure. We know how hard it’s going to be because they have had a remarkable u-turn and we are two of the most in form teams in the league despite the league positions.”
With Ahmed Kashi and Marcus Browne suspended it means opportunities for other players to step in to the side, and Karl is blessed with plenty of options right now, as he admitted:
“We have had options since January and we want to keep the team together as much as possible for next year if we can. We have good players who can come into the team, that’s important and we have to have the same level of competition as always. There are also some very good players in the under 18s who are trying to win their league so if we are going to give them their chance then we have to do it at the right time for all concerned.”
