Oxford United Women continue to build towards the new season with three more players committing themselves to the U’s for their National League season.
Midfielder Flo Fyfe is joined by two familiar faces to fans: goalkeepers Lucy Thomas and the returning Hannah Cox, and manager Liam Gilbert told us:
“The squad is really starting to take shape. We have a few more players that we will be announcing in the next couple of weeks but I am happy with where we are at as a club.
“We now have competition for places in a number of key areas. Lucy and Hannah have been pushing each other in every session so far and it will be interesting to see who wears the number 1 jersey for the first game of the season. Signing Flo also adds to the quality and depth that we have in the middle of the park. She will be competing for a starting spot with Ellie, Immy, Sophie and Loz and that is going to give us real strength in depth.”
We asked Liam for his thoughts on the three new faces:
Flo Fyfe
Flo is a player who has a lot potential and a bright future. She is a technically gifted who has a fantastic range of passing. I am looking forward to working with Flo and to see her progress into a player that I believe has the ability to run games in the National League.
Lucy Thomas
Lucy is a player who has come through the clubs RTC system. She is another player who I think has fantastic potential in the game. Lucy has a fantastic attitude, she always pushes herself in training and wants to be the best player she can be.
Hannah Cox
Hannah is returning to the club after a couple seasons playing for Oxford City. She is a good shot stopper and has a very good range of distribution. I know Hannah is delighted to be back with Oxford United and we are pleased that she is back with the club.
