Oxford United need a draw on Saturday to be sure of League 1 football next season and midfielder Ryan Ledson is determined to play his part when the U’s welcome Rochdale to the Kassam Stadium.
“Over the last five or six games we have been a lot better” he told us.” I think we’ve only conceded two goals and we have defended better as a team and that just shows you what we have been working so hard on in training.
“I thought we were unlucky against Wigan and should have got a point up there. If we had then it would have made seven points in a week which would have been just about perfect.
"But the win at Doncaster was massive and I know that mathematically we only need a point now to be safe. We just have to make sure we stay positive, aim for all three points, and get a result on Saturday.”
Ledson’s mature displays have made him a big favourite with the United fans and sometimes it’s easy to forget that he is still only 20.
“I think if I play the next two games I will have played 50 games in a season” he says in an interview in Saturday’s matchday programme.”To do that at such a young age is unbelievable experience so you learn all the time, work hard, keep improving, and hopefully it all helps towards a win against Rochdale and then a really positive season next time around.”
