Oxford United are pleased to announce that all three scholars who were offered their first professional contracts in May have now signed on.
Goalkeeper Manny Agboola and winger Malachi Napa have each signed for one year, while midfielder Shandon Baptiste remains a scholar until the end of August, at which point his six-month pro contract will commence, giving him the chance to impress following a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the second half of last season.
Coach Derek Fazackerley said: “It’s great news for both the club and these young players that they have taken their first steps into the professional game. Wayne Brown speaks very highly of Manny, who has already featured on the bench for the first team, while both Malachi and Shandon are very promising youngsters with bags of skill.
“With Canice Carroll making such a good impression at the end of last season it shows that youth development at the club is still going strong and everyone involved with the youth team – Andrew Whing, Leon Blackmore-Such and all their staff – can be very proud.”
