Young Everton striker joins the U's on Deadline Day
Oxford United have strengthened their attacking options on Deadline Day by signing striker Conor McAleny on loan from Everton until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old forward has been at Goodison since he was eleven and has made two senior appearances for Everton, while gaining experience with loan spells at Scunthorpe United, Brentford, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic and last season at Wigan Athletic, scoring 4 times in nine starts. This season he made two appearances for the Everton under 23 side in the Checkatrade Trophy, scoring against Bolton Wanderers.
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“He has been around the Everton first team set up for a while now and knows what going out on loan is all about.
“Obviously we know the calibre of the Everton development sides with John Lundstram, Ryan Ledson and Jonjoe Kenny all doing really well for us and now Conor gets a chance to come and make just as good an impression. He works hard, knows where the goal is and we think will give us another goal threat during the busiest part of the season.”
