There is a familiar face returning to Oxford United this week with Richard Blackmore back at the U’s in a new role.
Richard spent 17 years with the club, managing the Academy and the Women’s team as well as taking on a huge range of other jobs. After a short break over the summer he is now back with the club as Head of Club Operations. Working with all departments, Richard will also have a matchday role as well as working on the options for a new training ground.
He told us:
“It’s great to be back and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve had four or five months away but even during that time I’ve been around the place and helping where I can. This was just a natural progression to make it more of a formal role once again and I can’t wait to get started.”
Chairman Darryl Eales said:
“Richard is very knowledgeable and hugely respected by everyone at the club and it is great to be able to welcome him back. We are very fortunate to have loyal and passionate staff like Richard throughout the club. It’s a team effort and it is fantastic to see him back at the heart of the Oxford United family.”
