Gary Briggs was at the very heart of Jim Smith and Maurice Evans' brilliant team, forming a superb partnership in central defence with Malcolm Shotton and striking terror in visiting strikers.
In an era of 'hard men' Gary was the toughest of them all, as his Rambo nickname showed. A massive favourite with the United fans, Gary will be back to see everyone in the restaurant next Saturday before the game against the Shrews.
We spoke to him earlier today and he told us "I'm really looking forward to coming back. I loved my time at the club and have so many memories of that time. I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces."
