Encouraging first signs for Joe
Oxford United will wait a further 48 hours before making a full assessment of Joe Skarz, but the early diagnosis is encouraging.
Skarz landed awkwardly during Sunday’s game against AFC Wimbledon and looked in some discomfort as he left the pitch holding his shoulder. However this was not a dislocation and United will wait until the swelling goes down before making a full assessment.
Head of Sport Science and Medicine Andrew Proctor told us:
“The good news is that it wasn’t a dislocation, which can take a while to come back from. It’s still quite sore and swollen and we need to wait until that settles down before we can fully assess it but on first looks it seems to be ACJ ligament damage, similar to an injury that Kemar Roofe had at the start of last season.
“We don't want to put time scales on it and should know more in the next 48 hours but the good thing from our perspective is that Skarzy is a quick healer and we know will want to be back playing again very quickly.”
