Michael Appleton's reaction to the 1-1 draw at Glanford Park
Oxford United came away from the league leaders with a point but Head Coach Michael Appleton was a little frustrated not to cap a good week with a win at Glanford Park. United roared back in the second half but had to settle for a draw after Phil Edwards’ header made it 1-1.
“If anything we are a bit disappointed because there was only going to be one winner in the second half” Michael told Yellow Player HD. “I thought it was one-way traffic right from the restart. We said at half time there was nothing in the game but then we really upped the ante in the second half. I thought their keeper was definitely a lot busier than Easty was.
“It showed a lot of character and those were the questions I had for the players at half time: how much desire do you have to really go out there and win this game.
“I did think that we had two goals in us, and no doubt we should have scored two, but ultimately it’s a point away from home against a side that are flying high. That’s seven points out of nine and we would have taken that at the start of the week.
“I fancied us today, there is a good feeling about the place at the minute and we just have to continue that. We have a bit of break with two cup games to look forward to now, so let’s see where we are after those.”
