Welch-Hayes and Stevens step up from the youth team
Two more exciting young players have signed their first professional contracts with Oxford United.
Goalkeeper Jack Stevens and defender Miles Welch-Hayes were both at the Kassam Stadium earlier today to sign one year contracts with the club, having made the step up from the youth team this summer.
Miles is a versatile defender who can play left-back or centre-half as well as his preferred position of right back. He has had spells on loan at Daventry and Banbury United, while keeper Jack began his career at Chelsea before joining the U’s as a scholar and making remarkable progress: just a month later he was on the bench for a league Cup game against West Brom at the Hawthorns.
They join striker George Jeacock in the first team squad after the Bicester born forward signed his first pro deal last week.
“It’s good news “ said Head Coach Michael Appleton. “They have both worked very hard and deserve their chance.”
