U's set for Spanish pre-season tour
Oxford United are delighted to announce that this summer’s pre-season schedule will include a training camp and at least one game in Spain.
2015 saw a brilliant pre-season tour to Austria where the players, staff and supporters forged a bond that has grown even stronger as the season has gone on, and this year the U’s will be heading for Spain with fans invited to come and join us for another great experience.
The tour will be from 10th to 17th July with a midweek game one evening and an open training session and barbecue the next where fans can come and join the players and coaching staff for an informal pre-season get together. A second game is also being planned for later in the week.
Full details of the location and games will follow soon, with the club looking to organise a package deal for fans to include a hotel and transport to the matches.
Chairman Darryl Eales said
“I don’t think anyone will ever forget the experience in Austria last summer. We were overwhelmed by the number of fans who flew out for the game against SC Wiener Neustadt and then the barbecue by a lake the next day really brought everyone together.
“The team bonding is important but the players also worked extremely hard during that week and we have put a lot of time and effort into finding a training base with fantastic facilities this year. It is exciting to be planning for next season already, and we would love as many fans as possible to come out to Spain and join us.
“We are just putting the finishing touches to the itinerary and full details will follow in due course, but there has been such interest in the pre-season tour that we wanted fans to know that it is Spain in July so they can start making their plans.”
