Join the Chairman for a FREE pint and hot dog at Carlisle

United to stand together at Carlisle on Saturday

Oxford United are inviting fans who travel to Carlisle to join the Board for a free hotdog and a pint in a specially designated pre-match pub on Saturday.

The gesture, by United Chairman Darryl Eales, is to thank fans who are making the 550 mile round-trip to Brunton Park to roar on the U’s in the final Sky Bet L2 away encounter of the season.

Darryl has paid for 1,000 hotdogs and a pint, or soft drink, at The Magpie Inn, which is a five-minute walk from the ground.

The United Board will then join the Yellow Army on the away terrace to cheer on the team together.

The away and family friendly pub, which has a large beer-garden and parking, has agreed to welcome the travelling Yellow Army from midday.

Darryl, said: “Our away support has been absolutely superb this season and the demand for tickets for Saturday has been huge, we’ve sold more than 1,200 tickets so far and its only Tuesday.
“The ticket office has been rushed off their feet over the last few days for Carlisle and Wycombe tickets and areas of the home ends for the home game are beginning to sell out already.

“Carlisle is the longest away trip of the season in terms of distance and comes at the end of a long season – so it’s just a small way to thank them for their support and additionally a nice way to get everyone together.”

One voucher per United fan will be issued to supporters who visit the Magpie Inn pre-match. The London Road coaches will drop off any fans who wish to join the Board for a drink at the pub enroute to the ground.

United’s Chairman will be joined by new Managing Director, Greig Box Turnbull and  Directors Peter Lee, Simon Kelner and Steve Dolton for the pre-match get-together.

“There’s a real togetherness between the fans and the club staff and everyone is looking forward to standing shoulder to shoulder together on Saturday to support the team as one,” added Greig.
