Defender to miss out on last six games
Oxford United have received confirmation that defender Joe Skarz will miss the remainder of the season. The left back has been virtually ever present for the U’s this season but has been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks with a persistent groin injury. Sadly for Joe this worsened in the game at Cambridge and a scan has revealed a rupture which will take six weeks or so to recover from.
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“It’s a shame but it needs sorting out. We knew the risk of a rupture happening but we were hoping we could manage the situation. It got to a stage against Cambridge where he was struggling to turn and that was when we knew he needed to get it looked at.
“Jordan Evans has come into the side and done really well, so we are well covered. It is a very similar injury to Ryan Taylor who is also going to miss the run-in but they are both excellent pros and I am sure will come back raring to go in the summer.”
