UNited's development Side win again
Oxford United’s Development Side were involved in another high-scoring game this afternoon as they won 4-2 at Barnet in a friendly. Fresh from last week’s 10-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers the U’s carried on where they left off with two goals from Ryan Taylor and strikes from Pat Hoban and Sam Humphreys giving them another excellent win.
Taylor opened the scoring with a near post finish after good work on the left from Freddie Grant, and the former Portsmouth man made it 2-0 inside the first ten minutes when he smashed a rising effort into the roof of the net from 18 yards after AJ George had worked the ball in to him.
Aidan Hawtin got forward from right back and stood the ball up nicely for Hoban to head expertly home and although Barnet pulled it back to 3-2 at one stage the game was sealed when Humphries ghosted past a defender and lifted it over the advancing goalkeeper to make it 4-2.
Chris Allen told us:
“Just like last week’s game we started really well and you could see that everyone was up for it. Ryan and Pat took their goals nicely and we were on top but we let Barnet in to the game with two short passes out of defence which we didn’t need to do and that made it 3-2 and game on for a while.
“Credit to the lads who raised their game and pushed on from there to score a fourth and win a game that we were always comfortable in. I thought the attitude was spot on from everyone and we are doing really well in these games at the moment. Long may it continue.”
