Full round up as the U's make it four wins in a row
Oxford United pushed into the top three as a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday made it three league wins in a row. A George Baldock goal sealed the three points to cap a great week for the U’s who beat closest rivals Swindon Town in the JPT as well.
“It was always going to be difficult to replicate that atmosphere and 9,000 people here, with the 1,200 from Swindon wanting to play their part as well” Michael Appleton told Yellow Player HD. “It was always going to be difficult as a game, we knew that straight after we finished on Tuesday but it was all about winning the game and doing the right things.
“ I could never see us losing it, but I told the players at half time that it was a minimum nil-nil when we leave here today.
“We had one or two chances in the early part of the second half that we really should have punished them from anyway. In the end it took something special from George to win it. He gets into those positions quite often and it opened up for him. Fair play to him he struck it beautifully.”
