U's add to front line ahead of Morecambe game
Oxford United have completed the signing of striker Armand Gnanduillet on loan from Chesterfield until the end of the season. The 23-year-old is a powerfully built striker who has been with Chesterfield since January 2013 having started his career with Le Havre before joining Poissy. Born and raised in France he qualifies to play for the Ivory Coast and has represented them at under 23 level. The six foot four striker has scored ten times in 26 starts (plus 44 sub appearances) for Chesterfield and netted twice in a four game loan spell at Tranmere Rovers earlier in the season.
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“He made a big impression last year when Chesterfield won this division and he has been in and around their squad for most of this season. He is a big lad but he is mobile as well and gives defenders a lot of problems.
“He gives us something different at the top of the pitch and we are pleased to have him here with us.”
Armand goes straight into the United squad as they welcome Morecambe to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night. Tickets are available from www.oufctickets.co.uk and by calling 01865 337533.
