Best Feet Forward

Fans go the extra mile for United

Oxford United fans put their best feet forward on Saturday as they walked 12 miles to the game against Mansfield Town to raise funds for the club’s Community Trust and Oxford Domestic Abuse Services.

Three groups set off from Eynsham, Thame and Woodstock, meeting up at the Kassam Stadium to watch the U’s beat Mansfield 3-0. Joining the fans making the walk were Milk Cup hero Les Phillips and the Oxford United Women’s squad, while Chairman Darryl Eales and Head Coach Michael Appleton were on hand to wave the walkers off at Thame and then meet them when they arrived at the stadium four hours later.

The fans collected close to £300 in a pre-match bucket collection before finally putting their feet up and watching the game. Once sponsorship money is collected the walk will raise substantial amounts for both great causes.
