United youngsters beat Wolves in development game
Oxford United’s Development Squad’s fine recent form continued with an excellent 2-1 win away at Wolves today.Following on from their 12-0 victory last week United included Max Crocombe, Freddie Grant, Sam Long, Junior Brown, Josh Ashby and Sam Humphreys in a side with five trialists, with one of those trialists and Humphreys getting the goals.
Coach Micky Lewis was full of praise for the way the team went about their business:
“They all did really well. Obviously it was a step up from last week’s game but you are always looking at attitude and I thought everyone did well today. The trialists played for the team rather than as individuals and then you need everyone to show the right attitude alongside them and Junior Brown, who was the senior player, set the tone for that.
“Josh Ashby did a lot of good things in midfield, Sam Humphreys took his goal well, but from front to back we worked hard and deserved the win.
“We have another game tomorrow against Reading and will look at another couple of trialists as well as giving a few more players some game time.”
