Players report back for pre-season
Oxford United’s pre-season got up and running today as the players reported back for pre-season training.
The first team squad reported for duty to the training ground this morning and after a team meeting they began a day of analysis including tests of endurance and sprints. New striker Danny Hylton impressed immediately while James Roberts, Sam Humphreys, Josh Ashby and Aidan Hawtin all did well on their first day as professional footballers.

The players will step things up further tomorrow with a harder session, as head Coach Gary Waddock told us:
“It is good to have everyone back today. Danny Hylton settled in straight away and we have Jon Meades and Johnny Mullins back after injury last season so it was a good positive start. Today was more about settling in, talking through what we expect from them as individuals and as a group and how we plan to achieve it, and then easing back in to the hard work that they will do throughout pre-season.
“They had programmes to stick to through the summer and first impressions were very good today. They have been thoroughly tested and the results will be studied and then the serious hard work starts as the week build up.”
