Chris Looks Forward

Manager looks ahead to the visit of Bristol Rovers

See it through. That’s the message from Chris Wilder to his side as they welcome Bristol Rovers to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday. United have played well against Burton and Southend, and yet picked up just one point from those last two games. The Manager is looking for his side to turn good performances into good results as they welcome an in-form Rovers tomorrow:

“They have good players and they are showing what they are all about now” Chris told Yellow Player, having watched Rovers in action at Cheltenham in midweek. “They are a good group and are a very dangerous side to play against. But so are we. I was disappointed after Southend on Saturday and disappointed for the players because they had done enough to go and win that game. But they have to go and show the same ruthless side to their game that Southend showed. We have to make sure that we play well and win the game.

“I can take one bad performance, at Fleetwood where we didn’t deserve to get anything out of the game but in the last two games we just needed to show that ruthless streak if we want to be successful. We have to add that to our game and that will be the defining point really. I feel we are one of the better teams in this league but we have to learn from games like Southend, or Chesterfield where we let it slip in the last minute and moments like that.

“There isn’t going to be a big change in personnel so players have got to learn, experience the disappointments, and react to those the next time they are out there. We have to set it up for the last ten games. We thought we had done that just before Christmas but have knocked ourselves back a little bit so now we have got to go again. That’s the key: don’t worry about what happened, just look forward to the next game, and so beating Bristol Rovers is the aim for Saturday.”
