United's Ladies team beat Oxford City to lift County Cup again
Oxford United Ladies continued their excellent season by beating Oxford City 3-0 at Thame last night to retain the Oxfordshire County Cup.Goals from Charlotte Clarke in the first half, a Katie Stanley strike and a Tash Caswell header were enough for the Yellows to beat City before a healthy attendance at the ASM Stadium. Manager Richard Blackmore told us:
"It was a good game and nice to lift the cup again. That is four seasons in a row but credit to City who made it really tough; I think that shows the strength of the ladies game in Oxfordshire as a whole. We had chances to win the game more comfortably but over all this was another very good performance."
United's next game is away to Plymouth this Sunday as the women look to keep up the pressure on Keynsham at the top of the South West Combination.
The U's are five points adrift but with a game in hand, and the teams still have to play each other in Oxford in a rearranged fixture, date TBA.
