Oxford United Women’s defender Georgia Clifford was the deserved winner of the Supporters’ Player of the Year award after a special online meeting yesterday.
Georgia, 21, had been outstanding for the U’s during their National League campaign and was typically humble when she received the award:
“I want to thank everyone who voted and I’m really pleased to have won it. We had a very good season and were in good form when it ended so now we have to stay fit, keep in touch and be ready when we finally go back. This is an amazing group of players and staff and I’m missing seeing hem all but we will do what we need to do to stay safe and come back even stronger and looking to compete.”
Manager Liam Gilbert said:
“There were some very strong candidates and some great efforts from all the players but we’re pleased to see Georgia win the award. There’s a good bond growing between the players and the fans and we will all be working extremely hard once again to be ready when football resumes.”
