Oxford United Women today completed the signing of 21-year-old Adele Lindbaek.
The Norwegian wide forward played for Aberdeen last season but has put pen to paper to join the U’s for the forthcoming season while studying for her Masters in mathematical and computational finance at the University of Oxford.
After meeting her new teammates, Adele said, “It’s a really nice group of girls and I’m looking forward to playing with them.
“I play mostly as a winger or a number 10. I’m quite a technical and quick player. I like to be involved in creating and scoring goals.”
It was university which first brought Lindbaek to England in 2020, having previously played in the Norwegian top flight. She graduated with a degree in maths with finance and management from King’s College London in 2023.
During her studies, Lindbaek played for Championship side Charlton Athletic, before moving to the north-east of Scotland in January during her gap year.
The aim of the gap year, Lindbaek says, was to see how much progress she could make in football.
“It was a difficult decision (to move up to Scotland), but at the same time I decided to have a gap year and wanted to see the opportunities I could make in football,” explained Lindbaek. Her time with Aberdeen was the first chance she'd had to play football without her studies distracting her.
