Oxford United International Roundup

Greg Leigh

The league football is just days away, with Stoke City visiting OX4 on Saturday lunchtime as the Championship resumes from the international break.

However, it was a successful few weeks for a number of the United squad, as six players flew the Yellow's flag while representing their countries.

Four players were away with the full national team, with Greg Leigh with Jamaica, Mark Harris back with Wales, Marcelino Ferdinan with Indonesia, and Ciaron Brown with Northern Ireland.

Ciaron played in both of Northern Ireland's Nation League matches, winning 2-0 over Luxembourg and falling 1-0 to Bulgaria.

Mark Harris was also in Nations League action, as he pulled on a Welsh shirt for the first time since June 2022, coming on for the final 10 minutes in a 2-1 win away to Montenegro.

Greg Leigh had huge success with Jamaica, as he started in a highly impressive 2-1 away win over Honduras, earning the first three points of the new  Steve McLaren era.

Marcelino earned two very credible draws against Saudi Arabia and Australia in World Cup Qualification, playing the final 30 minutes against Saudi and starting against Australia.

In the youth sides, new loan signings Ben Nelson and Dane Scarlett were involved with England Under-20s, with Dane captaining the side and scoring in a 2-0 win over Romania. Both players started in the Romania win and in a 1-1 draw with Romania.
